Archaeological and Gastronomic Tour: Trujillo – Chiclayo

4 Days / 3 Nights – An Unforgettable Experience of History, Tradition, and Flavor

Day 1 – Trujillo / Huacas del Sol y la Luna:

This tour program is designed for those who wish to discover the best of northern Peru, combining archaeology, living culture, ancestral cuisine, and unique coastal landscapes. Ideal for couples or small groups, this tour offers an intense yet balanced journey between Trujillo and Chiclayo, two cities that preserve pre-Inca treasures.

The first day begins with your arrival in the city of Trujillo. Our team will greet passengers at the airport and transfer them directly to a three-star hotel for a comfortable check-in. In the afternoon, the archaeological experience begins with a visit to the majestic Huacas del Sol y la Luna complex, one of the most important legacies of the Moche culture. The tour includes the on-site museum and the monumental Huaca de la Luna, decorated with impressive polychrome murals. After the tour, guests return to the hotel and have the rest of the evening free to rest or explore the city on their own.

Day 2 – City Tour / Huanchaco / Chan Chan / Bus to Chiclayo:

The second day starts with a nutritious breakfast and a tour of Trujillo’s historic center, where visitors will admire the architectural beauty of the main square, colonial mansions, and baroque churches. Next, travelers are taken to the seaside resort of Huanchaco, where they will enjoy an unforgettable gastronomic experience. They’ll learn to prepare the traditional northern-style ceviche with local chefs and savor it along with a delicious Pisco Sour by the sea, while watching the iconic caballitos de totora (reed boats) riding the waves. In the afternoon, the group visits the largest adobe city in the Americas: Chan Chan, the ancient Chimú capital recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. After touring the on-site museum and the Nik-An palace, passengers are transferred to the bus terminal to board the bus to Chiclayo at 6:30 p.m. Upon arrival, they are transferred to their hotel to spend the night in this warm and culturally rich city.

Day 3 – Huaca Rajada / Royal Tombs / Return to Trujillo:

The third day offers a deep immersion into the world of the Lord of Sipán. After breakfast, the tour departs to the district of Zaña to visit Huaca Rajada, the site where the intact tomb of the most important Moche ruler was discovered. The journey continues to the spectacular Royal Tombs of Sipán Museum in Lambayeque, considered one of the best museums in Latin America, which houses an impressive collection of jewelry, ornaments, and ceramics. After free time for lunch, passengers return to Trujillo by bus. Upon arrival, they are transferred back to their hotel for rest.

Day 4 – El Brujo Complex / Lady of Cao / Magdalena de Cao / Airport:

The fourth day ends the tour with a golden finale. After breakfast, the group departs toward the Chicama River valley to visit the El Brujo archaeological complex. There, they’ll explore Huaca Cao Viejo, a Moche temple adorned with reliefs and colors that have survived more than 1,700 years. The highlight of the visit is at the on-site museum, where visitors will encounter the remains of the Lady of Cao—the first known female ruler of pre-Hispanic Peru—mummified and bearing ritual tattoos in excellent condition. To wrap up, there is a short stop at the traditional town of Magdalena de Cao, famous for its healers and its rich traditional “Chicha de Año” (fermented corn drink). Finally, passengers are transferred to the airport for their return flight, with hearts full of history and unforgettable memories.
